i encounter this issue every time i try to brows the web using google chrome the DSL service gets interrupted? the wireless connection to the router is not interrupted because the light says green. it is always the DSL or internet lights that flicker red for a few seconds. however when i use internet explorer this does not happen. it would not be so bad is i did not have to fully exit out of google chrome once this happens.

I can guarantee that a request made from google chrome and microsoft internet exploiter look exactly the same with the exception of the client app header attribute - so basically no change and both conform generally to the same spec
Unless your provider has denied you the ability to use a specific client, there is likely any number of but not limited to the following:
- malware installed and piggy backed on your Chrome .exe
This likely came with a program or app you have installed because chrome has a pretty good security model.
Just for ****s n giggles - does this scenario you describe happen all the time, or only when you visit particular websites?Just another Boy and His Dog.

There's absolutely no good reason why your browser choice would cause your DSL to flicker.
ATT is doing some shady stuff on the side where they disconnect you if they see weird traffic, or your DSL line can't handle additional bandwidth loads.
Run some high-bandwidth stuff for a little bit and see if you can cause it to flicker. Download a massive file while watching a youtube video and uploading a file to an FTP site should do it.
In the past, the single biggest cause for problems with a DSL connection (in my experience) was the wiring...either to your house or to your outlet.-- 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0Comment

Or a missing DSL filter on a phone line device. I had speed issues that AT&T was baffled by as I'm right on the fiber hub; finally traced it to missing a Z-filter on the alarm box autodialer.sigpic Lucky you.Comment

this. I had Verizon DSL and line integrity was a huge issue. If you are in a home/apt that was made before like 1990 and has not had it's phonelines restrung, likely your wiring is bad and thats why you are experiencing poor connectivity.
I have been on Cox cable for about a year. Same price, 25x + the speed.
i was getting <1mbps on dsl, now im get 29.47mbps down for the same price.Just another Boy and His Dog.

My ATT DSL was slow and the phone lines would fail about every 6 months necessitating a service call. ATT was deferring maintenance of the copper cables in my area so the wires were failing. Eventually they had to pull new cables, but I still wasn't getting the DSL speed I paid for. ATT finally "discovered" that my DSL service wasn't connected via the fiber optic connection at the nearest junction box. They corrected that "oversight" and now everything runs fast enough to stream movies to my WiFi connected TV without a hitch.
ATT would like to get rid of landlines altogether, as cellular service infrastructure is less expensive to maintain. Dealing with ATT is similar to dealing with the planning and building department =
