    Firefox Bug?

I'm using the latest version of Firefox 6.0, and lately it's slowed to a crawl. After I clear the cookies, I check the Task Manager, and I have multiple plugin-container.exe processes running to the point it's hogging all the CPU resources. It's causing CPU overheating problems, and/or locking up.
I pull up Task Manager, end all the plugin-container processes, and I'm back to normal function.
I checked the Mozilla Forums, and it seems this problem started with version 3.6, and Mozilla has done nothing to correct it. Firefox was 10 times faster than Internet Explorer, and now it's the other way around.
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Anyone know of a fix?

    System:
    XP PRO SP3
    ASUS P4P800SE MB
    P4 3.2E Prescott CPU
    4GB Crucial PC3200/400
    Sapphire 1950 Pro 512MB AGP
    Raidmax Modular RX-630A PSU

I think it's a bug. I'm getting the same thing too. It's not the beta version. Mine will slow to a crawl or if I haven't done anything on the page for a while, when I got to click on a link or type in a new website it will freeze up for a few mins before it connects to the website. I'm hoping it will be fixed. For now I've switched over to Chrome and I'm beginning to like Chrome more than Firefox now.

That seems to be the consensus with fed up Firefox users too. Guess Mozilla is going to keep twisting my arm.
One look at my system will tell you how much I hate change.

The one really nice thing that I've enjoyed with Chrome is that if a tab is frozen I can just kill that tab with Chrome. Whereas with IE or Firefox if one tab crashed I'd have to close the entire program.

I suggest reviewing your plug-ins. I bet you have a bad one that is causing this issue.
I don't have this problem at all, in fact this is the first I have heard of it...

I'm having the same problem with FF6.0 and W7. It will completely freeze for 30 seconds or more, CPU usage goes way up, then it clears up and everything works as normal.

If you check the firefox support site it's a commonly reported bug. If it's a non-issue in 5.x and 6 is almost unusable on pages with embedded youtube videos it's a bug.

I just wish Chrome supported toolbars but Google refuses to.

Firefox has become a POS. I still use it for some stupid reason, but when I want something to "just work" I'll fire up Opera. I dunno why I don't just use Opera all the time...I've been brainwashed by the foxiness or something

That is why I use Chrome or safari (chrome is that fastest on all my computers).

Plug-in add ons are not made by Mozilla. It's like blaming Microsoft for Windows because it keeps crashing due to an issue Creative Labs has with a driver issue. Eliminate the problem add on, if that is the issue. Firefox is awesome.

I disabled all of the add-ons and Plug-ins (everything) I could in FF and it still froze up. After 6 years of using FF, it's now uninstalled and I'm using Chrome with no issues. The CPU usage in general has gone way down after uninstalling FF.

I'm glad I saw this link. I stopped using FF a few days ago as it was freezing up on me. I'm using IE right now but will give chrome a look.
