    I Need Ipod Touch Repaired

My son dropped his Ipod touch in the toilet. It takes a charge and powers on but the touch screen doesn't work. Is it worth fixing? Thanks.

BTW: He dropped it in the toilet a couple of months ago but didn't tell me until today.

Do not take it to http://iphonereplacementparts.com/

I had a 1st Gen iPhone that they worked on over 3Xs after screwing up a battery replacement. They boogered up my MB twice...... and ruined the camera.

They are cheap enough to just buy a used one.

If it's been in the toilet I'm guessing it's hosed. You could try sending to http://iresq.com and see if they can do anything with it. I've had good experiences with them.

        Try Joe Kempe at: http://www.ipodrepairclinic.com/

I have had a couple repaired by him and another that he called me and told me that it wouldn't be worth fixing and mailed back to me.

You can probably email him to ask if it is repairable, I trust the guy.

It is most likely cheaper to buy a used or even a factory refurbished one (as previously mentioned)... That being said there may be another option

The fact that it got wet and then was turned on and now has this problem means you are most like past the point where this will work but it also means that it can not hurt to try.

Use warm but not quite hot water. Basic tap will do, do not use distilled. Run down the battery in the device and then, yes, submerse it into the warm water. Shake it around so that it gets water everywhere. Then take it out and shake it. Rinse and repeat like three or four times. Then take it out, shake it dry and wipe it down. Now take a ziplock gallon sized bag and fill it 2/3rds with plain uncooked white rice. Place the device down in the rice in the bag. Try to get as much air out of the bag as you can and seal it. Put it in the a spot in the fridge where it will get cold but not frozen. Like maybe the door. Once a day, take out the bag and shake it and put it back. Do this for a week. Then take it out, wipe it clean, charge it and see if it works.

Here is the deal. Water by it's self is not really harmful to electronics that are not turned on. It's the electricity that is the issue. I have used this same method to revive cell phones that got doused in coke. The water washes away "sticky stuff" and the rice pulls the moisture out of the air. You want it to be cold because cold air can't hold moisture so it has to move to the rice

              Good luck.

My son says the digitizer, the part of the screen that responds to touch is damaged. The LCD screen lights up and you can see the the battery icon, fully charged. The round button still works and so does the button on the edge of the case.

I'll call the Ipod Repair Clinic in the morning and see what they say. Worse case scenario, we go buy a five pound bag of white rice and give it a go!

Thanks for all of your replies!
