What is the best value Point-and-Shoot Camera between $100-$200?

Pretty much just what the title asks...

Needs:
~Something fairly small and thin to fit in a jeans pocket.
~Minimum of 10megapixels.
~ Preferably black, but that's not a big deal.
~Need something with auto-image stabilization..

I had a Sony DSC - W220 and loved it, but I have heard that Sony's quality in this price range of cameras have dipped recently...?

Look at Canon. You have a decision to make regarding form factor and batteries though -- the bulkier models in the A series may allow you to use AA batteries, meaning you can in an emergency pick up alkalines almost anywhere, whereas the slimmer models use proprietary rechargeable Canon batteries.

Also, in the interest of simplicity and traveling light, see if your mobile phone will meet your needs (with the probable exception of image stabilization).

it only has a 10x zoom, and the pics were not great at all. local walmart will have it.


I got my GF a Canon power shot SX130is it is a great camera for the price. walmart had this one too. The pics come out the same if not better then my nikonD80

We bought one of the Samsungs with the dual (front) display. made it a lot easier to take photos and videos whan we wanted to capture everyone. We also went for the one with the simple controls - a wheel selects video, portrait, flash, etc.

Worked for us as lots of times when traveling easy to operate quickly is needed.

i would stick to canon,sony,nikon,samsung or panasonic.
