    computer to tv?

My wife and I have netflix, but no tv what so ever (we have a tv, just not tv). So, we watch a lot of streamed movies off netflix on my laptop, is their a cable I can hook to the laptop, then to the tv set, so we can watch them on the tv instead?

The tv is a flat screen insignia, a couple years old, computer is a hp g72

What model is that TV? As long as it has an HDMI input you can simply run an HDMI cable from your laptop to the TV.

You can hook up your computer to a TV.. It all depends on the hook up your computer has.
To be honest I would get a Roku box or something instead. From what I have heard the quality off a computer isn't as good as using a box that streams.

Do both have HDMI? If so you can go HDMI out to the HDMI input on the TV. You can get a HDMI cable from Monoprice.com for $5-10. If the laptop does not have HDMI then perhaps it has a DVI output? If so you can go with a DVI to HDMI cable.

It all depends on the computer's video capability. The Roku doesn't have a great reputation for video quality just lots of online sources. For Netflix nothing beats a PS3 (up to 1080i and 5.1 sound) and for online video from a PC the free Boxee media player application has a lot of choices.

A cheap solution is the Roku or a Western Digital TV Live Plus (Plus = Netflix ready) or just run Boxee from the laptop.

It has HDMI out. If it was DVI only he would still need to run a separate line out for audio since there is no audio out over DVI. The only question now is, does the TV have HDMI (I'm guessing since it is only 2 years old that it does).

Oops I forgot to mention audio cables for DVI. I was focusing on video. HDMI is the way to go.

I would order the cable from MonoPrice unless you do not mind paying a small fortune for what amounts to a $5 cable. The big box stores always push over priced Monster Cables on you, the more expensive cables do not offer any improvement.

Watch out for the local brick and mortar stores prices, they will kill you on their marked up cables. If you can wait a couple of days try these folks. Wayyy cheaper. http://www.monoprice.com

Edit. well I got beat out ! Monoprice it is...

Also, a lot of newer LCD and LED televisions have a Netflix browser built into them. You just run a network cable to the back of your TV from your router. Check your TV's menus to see if it's a feature. I know Sony Bravia's have it and newer Visio's as well. If not and you do not want to devote your PC to streaming movies to your TV they also sell little converter boxes relatively cheaply that just output Netflix to TVs from an internet signal. Just think of it as a little cable box. Check the Netflix FAQ page for current brands.

Buy a cheap blu-ray player with the Netflix app, Maybe $50 -$70 if you buy last years closeout model. Use the player to play BD, DVD, CD, stream Netflix, Pandora, Hulu, etc.

If the player has DNLA you can stream files off your computer to the player since it's Windows 7. Just have the player and laptop on the same network, wired or wireless, and give the player mission to access files.

Setup Utorrent to download torrents from an RSS feed and you can have all your favorite TV shows downloaded to your harddrive automaticly.
