    XP: Master File Table corrupt

I have a drive, and one of the partitions is hosed. I get a master file table corrupt error and I cant get it to read in WinXP. I tried to mount it in Linux, and it was a no go.

I desperately need to recover the files on this partition. Anyone have any idea how to recover the data?

    thanks

GetDataBack Data Recovery software. Recover data from inaccessible hard drives and USB drives. Supports Windows NTFS, FAT, exFAT, Apple HFS+, APFS, and Linux EXT.

I was able to mount as a physical D: drive and run the software which makes its own directory file on C:. I then copied the files to an external drive.

Can you start up your computer at all? If so, try ChkDsk, sometimes it can recover a MFT. if not, programs are available that might work. Try a program called EasyRecoveryPro. I think they have a demo version that will show you what files it finds. its kinda pricey, but it works.

Also, google for XP MFT recovery. There are forums talking about it and recommend other programs.
