Apple exercises price controls in a big ugly way.

Remember that if you are a student, price are slightly cheaper. You can get the educational discount at any Apple Store by showing your school ID.

And Amazon doesn't charge sales tax. That's a nice savings over Best Buy and Apple.com.

Or look at refurbs at apple.com. Usually around 15% off list.

Go to Apple's "Education" online store.

Choose K-12 or Higher Education, type in your zip code, pick a school your kids go to or near your house (they don't check). Pricing is usually $200.00 under retail pricing...

Model you're looking at is $1099.00 on this site...PLUS you get a $100.00 back to school gift card from Apple for a future purchase...Pretty sweet deal!

                      It's $1,138.95 at B&H Photo:

It's $1,192.41 w/tax at Apple (education discount) BUT that includes a $100 Apple Gift Card...so for $56 more, you get $100 to spend at Apple.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                      Come on...what harm??

Well, with best buy, you get the best buy rewards. $250 spending gets you a $5 GC so that's like 2% back in addition to whatever your CC will give you.

I'd weigh that against getting an ipod (that you can flip on Craigslist)
                        -g

You save more than $20 gift card you'd get from Best Buy if you order it on Amazon.com. An iPod is worth much more too, not to mention almost everything at Best Buy is overpriced and they will try to force you to pay for un-needed Geek Squad services that often times slow your system down.

Thanks for that tip. My brother wanted a new laptop, so we picked up the 13" Macbook Pro i7 last night with the student discount.
