All of these service providers are more then willing to cut you a deal to keep you.

To be honest, I haven't read every deal that you all have but I'd just throw out what I negotiated for...

We have Direct TV with HD and DVR. We get everything, I think its the Platnium package. ie. we get all the reg channels, all the HD channels and all the movie channels. We do not get the specialty packages like the foreign language stuff. For this we pay $85 a month.

They like to try and sell you on the value of this and that. About how Comcast or Dish won't give me a price like this. I told them I don't care. Here is what I want, either give me that or I"ll just drop them and go back to watching netflix. You want to see them twist off? Tell them that you will be just fine streaming stuff off of Netflix.

They know that's the future and they are scared

Anyway, $85, that's what I pay for DirecTV. The picture is good, the service has been friendly.

I switched from Direct to Dish and now they seem to be getting more expensive, my contract is up in a few months and I'm heading back to Direct.

Direct is also the company that has the NFL ticket. Their customer service has always been great to me

Dish Network was ranked top 10 worse customer suppport.

DirectTV is pretty good but you need to ask to speak to the RETENTION Department. Tell them you love them yadda yadda but DISH network gave you THIS or your buddy got THIS deal etc (whatever you want) and ask them if they can help you, if not your going to have to switch...

I tried this when my contract was up and I got a free DVR + free HD + Free HBO for 3 months + Free NFL Red Zone and 10 bucks off my bill.... FTW!!!!

I'm happy with my DirecTV but when my contract is up we are going back to just streaming Netflix over internet.

i just went to DirecTV from Comcast. The Comcast menus and OnDemand is great, but DirecTV packages and channels have been a better deal.

(sorry, don't mean to hijack thread with this one, just reviving). anybody going to DirecTV? there is a referral program, $100 bill credit for the one that referred and then friend referred to DirecTV. just saw it now on the website. I have DirecTV service now, not bad. if anybody wants to try to get the $100 bill credit for being referred, PM me.

I don't know if you got your HD setup or not but I've had DirecTV since the late 90's and I just called them up and said I wanted HD. Other than a little higher bill each month I didn't pay anything for any DVRs or dishes or anything, no contracts or anything. They sent some dudes out to install a new big dish (they did an awesome job too) and hook it all up. I'm also thinking about ditching it all and just stream off the internet as I don't watch it enough to justify the monthly cost ($80 or so)
