    SMS to SCCM migration

    Hey.

No idea if anyone on here has done this, but thought I might as well ask.

Have you migrated an enterprise environment from SMS 2003 to SCCM 2007?

We've got multiple floors, multiple buildings and multiple campuses. Each floor is divided into an average of three subnets.

    Anyway.

If you have done this on a similar scale, as in not wanting to do the entire organisation at once, what was your method and what would you have done differently?

...Daddy, what else did you leave for me?

DON'T DO IT! SCCM still has bugs that will screw you up royally. Wait a few months (until the next service pack) before migrating. I have a client with 2000+ nodes that just dumped SCCM because MS Consulting & engineering couldn't make it work correctly.

Once MS fixes things, the actual migration is not overly difficult. Push out the new agent & configuration for the system will join SCCM. Don't count on importing information from SMS - get it all fresh.

Unless you are too invested in MS to change I would strongly recommend looking at other solutions such as Altiris (Symantec).
