    Asus Transformer or Galaxy???

I've been shopping around and narrowed it down to the Transformer and the Galaxy. I havent had the chance to handle the Asus but I have played with the Galaxy and fell in love with it. But then again theres a $100 price difference. From all the reviews it seems the Asus is an excellent buy. My manager compared the two and ended up with the Asus and he swears by it! I also like the fact that I can add USB flash drive(using an adapter) to the Asus I'm not sure if the Galaxy has one though?? My primary use for it will be internet browsing. So should I go with either of these or should I hold off and see what new tablets are coming out?

Have you looked at the Acer Iconia? Native USB support on it, the Asus only has USB access via the docking port. As I recall, the front facing video on the Acer is 2.0mp verus the Asus's 1.3mp. The dock for the Asus however looks pretty awesome if you wanted to convert it to a laptop.

I've got the transformer, I'm very happy with it. Only other tablet I've used is an Ipad.

I have used both. The transformer is the more practical of the two since it has better expandability, more open, and has a microsd slot. It is also cheaper. Functionally they are about the same, but the Samsung is thiner and lighter also a little more comfortable to hold. Battery life is the same unless you have the keyboard dock which on the Asus adds another 6 hours and USB ports. I bought the Samsung, but only because thin and light was more important since I have a laptop and a windows slate for the functional side of things.

Just on a side note, I hate apple as a company and would never buy one, but tablet wise the ipad has the easiest interface, best accessories, and more apps.

The keyboard dock is cool and all but if I wanted an overpriced netbook I woulda bought a Macbook Air Anybody know if the Xoom will drop down to $499 anytime soon? I'd hate to buy a tablet and then have much better options released shortly after.

Asus Transformer - just picked one up for my wife last week, she (we) both love it. Superfast, fun. We both own droid X phones as well.

Personally I'm holding off until Amazon releases their rumored quad-core Hollywood tablet. Supposedly it's due around September and looks like it might be a game changer.

Yeah, if you can hold out, nvidia's tegra 3 quad cores are due out this fall. They will be about twice as fast with 5x the graphics power. The only thing is that there can be considerable lag between chip release and actual Mfgs getting a device out. The tegra 2 was released last summer and the only major manufacturer to get a tablet out by Christmas using it was viewsonic. It wasn't til the xoom that another major company stepped up to the plate and months more for any competetors.

I would take the Asus or Samsung over the xoom for the better screens. I haven't had too much hands on time with the Acer but the Samsung and Asus had better screens than it too from what I remember.

I have the Acer - I like I can use the USB port built in without the dock. I couldn't see having to buy the dock just to use the USB. Battery life is good for me, I'm bored long before it runs low :-)

We have iPads, one Galaxy Tab 10.1, and one Transformer where I work. The Ipad, by far, has the best apps. The galaxy Tab is very nice, but being a for of fashion kind of guy I personally purchased the ASUS Transformer.

The dock is nice if you need serious battery life and a psychical keyboard. The I actually like using the Transformer without the keyboard better for most tasks. If I need to type a lot I can always dock it. Only two apps I want on Android 3.1 is Google Voice and Netflix.

If I had to buy a tablet again it would be the Transformer and get my wife the iPad so I can use it.

Both are great! the transformer i see it more as a DIY/hackable/modders dream, where as the Galaxy 10.1 (which is the galaxy i recommend) is more along the line as the ipad alternative, we have both here at work, and both are awesome.
