Andriod Phones: AT&T Inspire vs. ATRIX

I'm looking to upgrade to an Android phone very soon. I'm done with Blackberry, and I was pretty set on getting AT&Ts new Inspire phone. But someone mentioned the Motorola ATRIX to me and said it may be a better option.

What's the true differences between these two models?

And please, no Apple fanbois tell me to "just get an iPhone".

I have a Moto Atrix and Samsung Captivate, with a few friends who own Atrix, Inspire and Captivate. I would personally recommend the Inspire over the Atrix. My friends have ditched thier Atrix for the Inspire because of all the hassle they've had to deal with on their Moto phone.

Yes the Atrix is dual core, yes you can dock it with all kinds of fancy crap, but I just don't think it's that great of a phone. When I first used it out of the box, it was fairly snappy and had decent battery life. As time goes on, things started to slow down, get really laggy, and my battery lasts less than a day. I keep tabs of apps/widgets that use data/power and I have them set to refresh on a very long interval, but it still doesn't help. Moto locks down the bootloader on the Atrix making it very hard to run custom roms (but we're making slow progress on this right now), and custom roms are one of the main reasons Android shines.

HTC has great build quality. The Inspire is a solid phone and I don't believe it has the flaws that plague the Atrix. It's single core compared to dual, but my friends and I have found that the single core Inspire running custom roms with overclocking support just crap on the Atrix. I have yet to hear a complaint from my buddies with this phone.

Does the Flash Enabled HTML web browser on the HTC really fall short of Firefox running on the Atrix? That was one of the bigger hang-ups someone had told me between them. Sure web browsing is important to me, but even the HTML on my Blackberry has served me well enough. Do either of the phones run a true webbrowers or do they both run mobile versions of sites?

One of my co-workers has has the inspire and flash runs sort of crappy on it. When he's looking at music videos the sound and the artist's mouths do not go at the same pace.

Remember, firefox on the atrix runs when you connect it to a dock. If i remember correctly, you can not run firefox on just the phone it self. i could be wrong though, but i'm pretty sure it can't. The "skin" of the atrix is freaking ugly, it is one of the ugliest skins I have seen on any smartphone. HTC sense looks much, much better IMO.

As for sales, we sell waaaayyy more inspires than atrix phones. The laptop dock is one of the biggest gimmicks I have ever seen. If it was cheaper i'm sure more people would buy it but even at $100 I think it wouldn't be worth it.

Have you looked at the Samsung Infuse? Now that phone looks freaking nice.

Aesthetics really don't matter to me, especially since it's getting put into an Otterbox Defender case. I'm looking for my best option for performance.
