from a command prompt with admin rights and the windows cd in the drive type: "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. it will verify and repair the core OS files.

legit retail copy and omfg its corrupt all over the place having to manually restore the files from dvd, sfc /scannow could not fix the issues... thinking i just may do a clean reinstall once again, to be honest this PC has had lots of issues with win7 ,reason for reinstall is it was in a continuous BSD loop ... got to love winblows ... if i dont get it running tonight i might just go with MYTHTV and say adios to winblows once again

Get a demo license for Acronis snap deploy 3. it comes with 5 licenses. You can create a master image so its not a pain in the a55 anymore when you need to re-install.

I had issues similar to yours last time I tried installing Windows 7 on a machine.

It turned out to be an incompatibility with the motherboards hard drive setup. It *sucked*.
