I. E. 9 on Windows 7

NOT a tecchie. I have Windows 7. My computer keeps suggesting I update to Internet Explorer 9.

Any experiences you might want to share as to whether or not I should update? The I.E. 8 that came with Windows 7 seems to be working just fine. Leave it well enough alone?

I HATE IE9 !!!! I did the upgrade then 2 days later uninstalled it and went back a version.

I'm acutally thinking about going with Chrome now. IE is getting SO slow.

I found IE9 to be faster than IE8, but I still only use it for my company's internal site. Otherwise it's a 50/50 split between using Firefox4 and Chrome. I would highly recommend either of those to replace any IE browser.

IE9 runs fine on my Macbook Pro running Windows 7.

IE9 crashes consistently on my HP xw9400 running Windows 7.

Irony.

Generally though, I only use IE on the Macbook at home. At work, it's Chrome all the way. Unless I'm screwing with SQL Reporting Services / SMS Reporting / McAfee ePO / Sharepoint, in which case I'm generally stuck in IE too

I added IE9 upgrade to IE8.
It affected everything from changing spacing when printing invoices through my website to misplaced flickering ads everywhere on the screen to other screens of random colored blobs and shapes.
I spent some time trying to fix it (compatability mode etc) but had no luck.
Finally I un-installed the IE9 update and everything works as it should again.

MS keeps bugging me to update...they even thoughtfully loaded a bold faced reminder icon on my toolbar to help me along...just click here...

Go with firefox, its much faster than internet explorer and has more functionality. Very simple to use as well but if you want to use explorer, I wouldn't upgrade, if it aint broke don't fix it. Windows updates tend to have a lot of bugs

I use FF mostly, but I have to keep IE current to insure compatability with the credit card companies and banks.
FF is not approved for use with these business links, yet I have had no problems to date using FF in these applications.
I do like FF better.

I still use IE8. I actually like it better then firefox. I haven't used Chrome yet. I heard that IE9 was a POS so I have avoided the upgrade thus far.

BTW, "In private browsing" is very convenient.

I have IE9 on my 64 bit Win7 machine, and IE8 on my 32 bit Win7 machine.

If you are used to IE8 I'd keep it, as it took quite a while to get IE9 to look similar. I haven't had any crashes with IE9, but it has some annoying features that take a while to figure out how to turn them off.
