easy.. on my Mac I use Audio Hijack and set it to hijack the sound from my browser as the source (so it does not pickup on other sounds like mouse clicks and email tones while I do other things). Play the song, start Audio Hijack recording and have it set to make an mp3 and viola...

It depends on what video format you're starting with. Have you tried Real Player? Or how about VLC? (both are free media players with some conversion and export capabilities)
