Tmobile - will not offer me a solution for my defective phone

I recently purchased the Tmobile G2x. I have been plagued by the well documented random reset problems, the total freeze/pull battery out to fix problems, bluetooth connectivity problems, and some others. The reset happens multiple times a day. I am beyond the 30 day return period. I was initially told by tmobile that all of my problems would be fixed by a software update (Gingerbread) from LG and it was coming "very soon". Now they cannot say when it is coming.

When I called t-mobile they are totally unable to help. This is what they told me:

    1. I cannot get a replacement phone since this reset problem is a "known" issue so a replacement G2x would have the same problems
    2. They cannot tell me when a fix will be available (in fact they told me to call LG myself)
    3. They tell me I cannot switch to another phone since my warranty only allows for replacement with the identical phone.

So I am totally stuck. I continue to pay my bills yet cannot do anything about getting a phone that actually stays powered on for more than a couple of hours.

Does anyone have any suggestions of any actions to take?

keep harassing them. I had an AT&T rep tell me if they couldn't fix my voicemail (took 6 months) I could just deal with it or get someone to take over financial responsibility for my account who doesn't mind not having voicemail. I received no comps or anything. after countless hours on the phone and arguments with all levels of employees-I finally have voicemail.

needless to say-I won't be renewing my contract.

Buy the 8 buck a month insurance then file a claim that its lost. They will send you a new refurbish phone. Forgot you have to pay $150 bucks .

Throw a brick through the shop window with a note that reads "gone to Verizon."

Buy a used phone - move your SIM card over.

I'm not saying it's fair, or right, or reasonable.

Or take them to small claims court.

Supposedly LG has released a software fix in Europe. That's usually the first location where they do updates/releases.

I used to work for AT&T, well Cingular at the time. You have a warranty. If the phone is defective they have to replace it. After so many replacements you will get a different phone. Also, usually the people that process the warranty replacement work for a different company.

Also are you speaking with customer care or tech support?

Why not call HTC and warranty it through them.

TMobile is sort of at the mercy of LG if its a software issue. So, calling LG would be the right way to go. Tell them you have a device of theirs, and are pissed that its not functioning correctly. maybe LG will offer a replacement phone of a different model directly.

My friend had a similar problem with his h2d2 crap phone. After several tries, they sent him a basic loaner phone and reduced his bill to non-smartphone untill they could fix his.

Call and complain. Escalate the matter to their service manager, something will get done.

Brilliant solution, other than insurance needs to be added within 14 days of getting the phone.

If you've got a bit of tenure, call customer care and ask to talk to customer loyalty. Upgrades start with the maker of the phone, not your network provider.

I just got a new replacement HD2 under my tmobile insurance, they sent it overnight no questions asked. I then upgraded and got the HTC sensation 4g android.

Talk to customer care directly and see if they can help you out. If not, check the marketplace as I just listed two hd2's for sale.
