    Javascript based Linux

This is really cool... It's a Linux distro written in pure JS that runs entirely in your browser.

It may not seem like much at first glance, but I can see a strong future for this kind of technology, especially in schools and other learning institutions.

It's an emulator with a limited number of commands and utilities. Most, if not all, current utilities and applications for Linux won't work on it. JS is also very inefficient compared to compiled C/C++. Still, it's a pretty cool start of something...

Here is the tech behind it...

Interesting. I can see how it could be used in schools, of course. Now, the really interesting (to me) part is client-side processing, it could be useful for something Citrix XenApp-like, but served over a Web server, all the while keeping the load on the server minimal. It's not a new concept, but the more options out there, the better.

With HTML5 we'll see a lot more of this client side processing, especially with the data storage that's available now.
