Ok I'm looking at building a new system and to start I'm looking at a ZALMAN Z9 case

Anyone use one yet? It looks good for cooling and cable management, which I'm so in need of, my old case has cables all over.
Anyways what are your thoughts on this monster?
    Thanks Jim

Corsair cases look pretty awesome for airflow, cable management, and overall aesthetics. I don't hear much (or anything at all) about Zalman cases. If there's one thing I've learned since researching computer parts in the past month, it's not to skimp on a case. Case should have good airflow, and plenty of room for future upgrades (bigger graphics cards, more harddrives, etc etc.

I also like how the Corsair cases have vents at the top that work with their H series closed circuit water coolers. You'll be spending around $150-$200 for a "decent" case.

Here's what I'd get if I was going to do a build in the near future: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811139001

Agreed on the 800d case. However, the case is HUGE!!! so make sure you have room for it. There is also the Corsair 650d version which is the mid size of the obsidians. If you are not going to liquid cool and place rad's everywher, 650d is the way to go.

          Link to a 650d obsidian 650d

Here it is next to my old case HAF922 , which is a descent size as well.

I think you're going about this backwards.
Start be deciding on your CPU and MB, drives etc, then figure out what case to put it all in. Some MB's require an extended ATX case and some can fit into an ITX case, so first figure that one out.

I'd personally look into getting an Antec 600 or Antec 900.... best air cooled cases out there IMO

The problem with these cases is the lack of cable management. If you do not care for cable management then these are fine. I have seen many people going to different because of this. They are good cases besides that.

Also if you really want Air flow the cooler master HAF series here has great air flow with good cable management.

I regret not getting one of those cases with huge fans on top

My case below with proper cable management. There is no way I could do this with your case. Unless I am missing something.

I would look for something with BIG fans. The bigger fans move more air, but spin at a lower RPM.

I have 8 120mm fans in a Zaleman GS1000, and it sounds like it is preparing for takeoff.

Cooling is pretty important, and cable management is somewhat essential to cooling, because a messy box restricts airflow.

Next thing to look at is expansion slots, internal drive bays to meet your needs, and external drive bays to meet your needs.
