Go to your local computer recycler and get the card you posted for $10.00 or so. I still use my LaserJet 4+ and it is just fine. It costs almost nothing to run.

        "Get something new cheap."
A new cheap printer can't compare to old Laserjets. Those things are friggin' workhorses. If you're printing black and white, they really can't be beat...especially not by new cheap printers which invariably cause more aggravation than they solve.

I'd just get the jet direct card and attach it to your network. That's what I've done with mine.

plug-in to your desktop (if you have one) and share it over the network... it is free
or get a Cheap Desktop to use it as a "printer Server", you can even use it as a NAS after you set it up.

i have built a good number of NAS, Printer and servers for people and this can be a simple cheap method to get the job done.

Though be aware the older a pc is the more power it tends to waste especially if its left running 24/7

And dont forget the heat that they give off, my seedbox/nas server is enough to warm my office for me when its cold. no need to use a space heater.

haha you're just talking about one unit, do you have any idea how hot they can get in a server room; when the AC was broken in summer .... it was a nightmare

If you can't find the network card, an external parallel port print server will do the same job for you, but probably run you about 20-40 bucks. I use to have one with my laserjet 6L and it worked great.
