    Help please Cassette to Digital

I have an audio cassette from an answering machine with a message about 30 seconds long from my boys when they were very young. I am concerned about losing it and want to have it put onto a CD.

Does anybody out there have this equipment that I could forward you the cassette and you could copy it for me?

    Many thanks in advance.... Paul

Pretty simple if you have a cassette player, i no longer do. Run a patch cord from the headphone jack to the line on your sound card. Use recording software to record and convert to the format you would like.

Here is a quick search of some recording software.

This is a good simple popular free recording software

Download Audacity for free. A free multi-track audio editor and recorder. Audacity is a free, easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. Audacity is free software, developed by a group of volunteers and distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Windows already has sound recorder, should be under accessories on the start menu. Is it a micro cassette or regular size?

I just got rid of my 8 tract boom box about 5 years ago. There are plenty of cassette ones still around.

I'm sure you can find a friend or co-worker that does but be careful.. check the machine first with another tape so your archive doesn't get ate up from an old machine that hasn't been used in years..

              good luck!

When there's a will there's a way. If the stereo outputs to speakers you can input it to a computer.

if all else fails, have them huff a little helium and re-record the original message.

                    DenverDuck,

If your recording is on a full sized cassette, I'm more then happy to transfer those to MP3 for you. Just ship it up to the San Jose area, and include some postage for the return trip!

If it's on a micro cassette, the earliest I can get my hands on a player would be this Saturday...and then I could do the conversion.

I actually JUST did this for a coworker who had a 40 year old cassette interview of his mother after she immigrated here. I was able to get it in digital format for them to preserve, and remove a lot of the "hissing" and background noise the original tape had.

                    Feel free to PM me!
