    Help

So I am going to be canceling my cable tv service and I have a question. If I run an HDMI cable from my PC to my tv will I be able to set it up to where my wife and kids can watch tv and I can still mess around online? If I can do this how will the audio work? Will they be able to hear the show on the tv and I will still have separate audio on my headset?

    I hope that made sense.

    Maybe.
Older computers don't pass audio over HDMI. But you could run the sound separately if needed.
I have an older PC hooked to my plasma TV and get the audio through my home theater.

How is the video passed?. Is it onboard or a separate graphics card?

You'll need to know for sure which gpu or for sure that it passes audio.

It looks like that card does audio over hdmi. Some people have had issues setting it up.
be sure to use the latest drivers and make sure the cables (SPDIF header) are hooked up on the mobo.

Just be aware that the pixel differences between a computer monitor and a TV are about 2:1, being that a computer monitors pixels are twice as dense as a TV. a TV is ideally viewed from 5+ feet away while a monitor is 2 feet. that combined with the likely larger size of the tv vs the monitor exacerbates the issues. twice as many pixels on a 24" monitor as a 40" TV, plus its almost twice the physical size as well means it will be ~ 4X more pixelated.

Ya, my 50" plasma looks way better with GF or BluRay DVD than it does with HD source from the PC.

yeah, it dosnt stop me from using a 42" smasung as my primary computer display. but i wanted the OP to be aware that its not 1:1 just because its HD and HDMI.

my setup is awesome for games, but text is atrocious.
