    Which lappy

Consider everything else relatively the same...

Core i3-370M with HD Radeon 5470 GPU (512MB) (HP)

Or Core i5-450M with integrated Intel HD graphics (Dell)

Edit- Also this IBM# Core i5-2410M..integrated intel graphics..but this processor seems much stronger/faster...Part# 11433FU

Use: Both are in the same price range. It will be used mostly for business but I will want to watch the occasional movie and play some games on it. Now I fully understand I wont be able to play games on ultra settings or even high for that matter. However, I do want to play some games (even on low settings). question is, which laptop would you get if you had to choose between these 2 (ie which is the better gaming rig), they will both do by business applications just fine)

I am leaning towards the HP but need some more input from you guys and gals. Thank you

We need full specs to make a decision. Whats the speed?

Generally I would go with the dedicated graphics card over integrated.

The HP has a 7200RPM HDD The dell 5400RPM
      Both have 4GB ram
HP is 15.6" Screen, Dell is 14"
The HP is slightly cheaper..at $550.00, the Del is $580.00
Dell does come with WIn 7 Pro OS, the HP comes with Home premium (both 64bit)

I think the i3 with dedictaed graphics card is best for this application. That GPU is very weak but the processors seem almost identical, even with the I5's turbo boost. The gain in speed is minimal, no? Plus playing games, the Radeon GPU will take a lot of the load of the processor...

The difference between the spindle speed of the HD will be noticeable in the loading of both games and files into data intensive applications (think Excel).

The dedicated graphics will fare better for FPSs, RPGs and Simulation games.

If it were me and those were my only options I would go with the HP.

However, if you will be traveling often, to locations were electricity is scare, the faster HD and dedicated graphics will drain a battery pretty quickly and leave you with a fancy paperweight.

If you're going to use it for business take a look at the ThinkPad T-Series. Stay away from laptops marketed to consumers, they will fall apart on you. What is your price range? The ThinkPad T-420 starts at $799 and the T-520 starts at $829. Both of these have the newer Sandy Bridge Intel processors which are faster and use less power than the ones you listed. They also have SATA-III hard drive controllers, which is nice to have if you decide to put an SSD in later (you can also put a mSATA SSD card in the WWAN slot if you do not need that option). There is also an adapter that lets you put the stock hard drive in the optical drive (ultra) bay. You can easily find coupons online that will knock the price down, and they usually have free upgrades if you use the configure option (double ram, hard drive upgrade). Both Dell and HP have gone down in quality, I would stay away from those. The Dell business class laptops are also thicker and heavier than the T-Series.

And Lenovo is milking the old IBM thinkpad name...
We evaluated the laptops for Lenovo, HP, Dell purchasing 1000+. Picked the HP line, but it was pretty close. Suppot was differentiator, but this was from a corporate aspect.
the user feedback we got from users was screen viewability (angle with 2 people sharing, contrast depending on setting like near a window) Keyboard feel.
users also wanted HDMI so they could use with large screen to view movie or (we suspect play games).

Depending on the particular game you play, one may be slightly better. Check the game forums for feedback on performance with that game.

IBM still handles support for ThinkPads. You get connected to a call center in Georgia.
