I always wished Sony opened their consoles to Homebrew and Custom Firmware. I guess this is one reason why they shouldn't.

yeah a lot of people say cfw is not for piracy, but once its open, it gets abused....a lot! i am all for cfw when used for the right thing(my launch psp had cfw for vnc and other cool apps), but the cfw was also used for pirating games which i do not condone. 6 days down and still going is not a good thing for them.

Yup. I am almost crossing the NGP off my list when it comes out. I don't think that I want a system slaved to a proprietary network for online functionality anymore

if the ngp has background app functionality, i may bite(for 3g voip functions), but if not i will probably pass as well. i loved that the psp had skype, but you couldn't do anything else while running that app.

How do you use netflix without having to sign in to the PSN? Every time I've tried either netflix or hulu+ through my PS3 since the PSN went down, I get nowhere. I'd LOVE to watch netflix through the box if there was a way around having to sign into PSN first!!

start the netflix app, let it load, and when it asks you to login, just login, do this about 1-2 more times, then the netflix will load up and you can use it like normal.

^this...you have to try and sign in once or twice, but it will load up in the background. once you see that just hit cancel on the next sign in request.

Ok, I've tried that now. I see that netflix loads up in the bg but it never lets me get away from the PSN login overlay. It only gives me the option to login or to go "back". When I hit "back", it says I have to login and bounces me right back to the login page. I've tried various combos multiple times in a row and it never seems to give up. The only way I've found to get out is to hold the PS button down and quit, which kills netflix. How are you guys getting away from the PSN login page?

Weird, I just tried it again and it worked! No idea what I did this time, but I'm going to leave netflix open now that it's working!!
