Sony makes a good DSLR. Only issue is you may not find as many assortments of lenses and accessories. My suggestion is to try them out and see which one you like as far as the controls are concerned. Most DSLRs can deliver good enough on the image quality that only a commercial, professional shooter is going to need the difference offered by the better cameras.
A majority of your pictures can be cleaned up nicely in post processing whether you use photoshop or one of the other image processing software. You should look at the pictures each camera produces. Chances are you'll prefer the overall look of one over another if you can discern any difference.NRA Benefactor Life Member

Unless you're buying used, or film, most of the newer cost effective consumer oriented cameras will have video. The full frame pro models are going that way too. Just like pixels are not always everything we get more anyway. What consumer is going to buy the <insert dslr model here> with no video?Comment

I would buy a canon t3i or t2i with the kit lens IS and then buy canon a 50mm f1.8 for $100. You can use the 50mm f1.8 in low light during night time hours and still get outstanding pictures with 50mm f1.8.

However me being a canon user, I would buy a canon or nikon camera because both have a wide selection items to support you in the future and has been in the business for a long time. You can go wrong with either!
Olympus is a great company with great stuff but they are just limited amount of equipment on the market
Don't buy a DSLR from Sony, Panasonic, Pentax = want to be DSLR company for the $$$$ and you get what you paid for!!!Comment

Seconded. I'm looking for a D90 to play backup to my D700.
The thing is most DSLRs on the market today will do much more than their users need. If you're the type of photographer that does not intend to really learn how to use the camera to it's fullest (manual exposure/focus being a major factor there) then just get a camera that feels good in your hand and is affordable. It'll serve you well. If you consider yourself a serious photographer then 1) You dont need my help picking out a camera 2) Why are you asking in a gun forum?
