Anyone fluent in Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010?

One of my sons is taking an online class and is having problems with a project involving Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010. If anyone here might be able to help I would appreciate it if you could PM me so I could give you his email address.

    Thanks.

Hi MA2, I will pass along the forum info you provided. I did receive a PM and I forwarded the info to my son but he had to work today so I don't know if he got in touch yet with the Calgunner who volunteered.

I just figured it would be easier to see if I could put my son in contact with someone rather than trying to be a relay station, especially since I wouldn't even have the faintest clue about what is involved.

Tell your son to stick with computer / network security in school. Software Engineering / Programming is being outsourced to India, Puerto Rico, etc and is no longer a very stable career. But one thing they dont outsource is security.

Sorry for being off topic, he can PM me as well regarding the question

"But one thing they dont outsource is security."
Take a look at job ads.

List the security jobs, then compare it with a list of dev jobs. There's a much bigger market for devs than for security goons. In addition to that, good security guys need to know how to program. Maybe not in VB, but programming is a huge plus when sitting down in an interview.

Have you actually done a search for Software/Computer Engineer on a job listing site. There are tons of open positions and it's the fastest growing engineering discipline in the US according the Dept. of Labor. Programmers are expected to decline however.

Thank you TacFan, I will pass your info on to my son also. He is working on his GIS certificate and the Community College has this as a requirement, it's a local thing.

A lot of those software jobs are phony listings, there is no intent to hire. That is just show so they can hire a contractor from an Indian company - their new way around the Visa requirements.
