    Apple to Android and Back?

Lol so I got the Motorola Atrix from AT&T and it's a really swell phone. My first Android phone actually. Before that I'm coming from Blackberry and Iphone and now I'm considering returning it and getting the Iphone 4 because I am still within my 30 day return period.

    Cons I am experiencing.
-NO VISUAL VOICEMAIL - very very important to me. I get lots of voicemail and hate to listen all of them to get to one certain one and delete press 7 blah blah.
-Horrible battery life because of background apps? - Yesterday I had a class for my job and I pulled off the charger at 7am with a full battery. Made one 20 minute phone call at like 12pm sent maybe 5 texts and boom battery dead and phone shut off around 4pm. No internet surfing or anything. Just satelite and wifi on with skype running in background. I work 8 hour shifts and luckily I can keep my phone plugged into the company car or charger in the office or I don't know what I'd do for my graves.
-Registers random input on screen - Sometimes I unlock it and just the slight movement or way I hold it will make the screen spas out left to right left to right.

    But enough crying. The pros:

-Takes 720p video and 5mp photos. Love it.
-Has front facing camera. Get to see wife and kid when I'm away in the field or whatever the great Reserves plans for me.
-16gig internal and expandable up to 48gig with microsd
-CAN DOWNLOAD FILES and actually be accessed.
-4G even though I don't think I am getting 4G lol my 3G on full connection seems really fast. I downloaded 790mb Gladiator movie in like 8 minutes at work. mobilevids(dot)org !!!
-Biometric fingerprint swipe screen lock!! Keeps *her* out the phone. (I kid, has password entry too)

I really like the phone, but just those few cons are making me want to go back to the company I hate with a passion. Apple. Even though I have my old iPhone, she has her iPhone 4, iPad, MacBook and my iMac

What should I do? My 30 day return period is up in around a week. Should I just return for a new same phone? Maybe I got a lemon?

Wow dude, no one pays for visual voicemail these days...

Every uses Google Voice or Youmail. (youmail has nice custom greeting option that will pronounce your contacts names automatically), Google voice has free speech to text.

I can't comment on the battery life, you could always look into rooting it and running a custom rom, increased my batter life on my Droid-X by about 30-40%. I use my phone a lot and it will stay charged all day, I would think the atrix would be better, but I don't have one to play with. Usually it's the screen that kills your battery.

Although really there shouldn't be anything going on in the background, unless your using a taskkiller (Don't do that thats not the way android was meant to work). Android is java based and manages it's own memory. You should be able to go into the system menu and it will give you a breakdown of what is consuming your battery. GPS is a killer on my phone, but over 60% is always the screen. There ae plenty of apps out there to help you determine your battery consumption issues, but it sounds like your constantly working the phone and expecting it to last for a long time. Constant Wifi via scype, and Sat (GPS) is going to be a constant drain on the battery.

And let me say it again. F*** visual voice mail

Apple makes good quality products but their phones have the most consumer unfriendly business models I have ever screen before, their model would not be sustainable if it weren't for Mr Jobs.

Lol I never paid for visual voicemail. It was just.. Available on my phone. I feel like a retard calling my voicemail. But I don't constantly use my phone, but I feel like it will seriously just die if I let it sitting on the kitchen table all day and never touch it then go to use it that night. I might be concluding that it's my Skype that just ran in the background and never got used. I'm not sure. Im new to android and trying to give it a chance. So far I am really impressed.

Other than that I'm getting this annoying thing where my freaking top part of the screen isn't registering touch. Might just replace the phone.

there should be a way for you to turn off the 4g service. no? i have the thunderbolt and turning off the 4g made all the difference in battery life. it was 4ish hrs w/ the 4g on and now i can get through the entire day (play games for at least n hr) and still have like 20%ish bat left. there's a few other tips on saving bat life as well on the android forums. maybe it's just the phone?
