    Anyone try Amazon Cloud?

    Wondering how fast it is?

Looks like a great way for me to transfer files between Mac (work) and home (PC), while I save up for a NAS.

I have been using their S3 service, which looks like the wholesale version of Cloud, for several years and have been very happy with it.

I uploaded a little bit of music last night to Cloud just to play around with it - haven't had it long enough to really have an impression, but Amazon has been working on the infrastructure for this long enough that I am confident they'll do fine, technically.

I'll have to try a 1GB test upload tomorrow at the end of the day. Hope it can complete transfer by the time I get home (40min commute)

It depends on the size of the pipe you have at each end, and the scanning software for your antivirus. You can speed it up by not scanning files coming from the AWS. I'm running the "free" site and it's been fine for my needs, but I think you only have 9 GB download a month.

A client of mine was using Amazon Cloud and the connectivity and speed is outstanding. They seem to have a lot of edge caching in place and a lot of connectivity.

I tried it, biggest problem. You can only DL one file at a time. You can't DL folders or multiple files yet. Speed isn't bad at all.

25MB raw files were done in 3-4 seconds around 11pm

Since you have a Mac why don't you look into Apple's Dot Mac? Not sure what Amazon charges but Dot Mac is 100.00 a year but you get all kinds of other features and services
