    UGH!!! Microsoft Word help!!!!!!

I have my full resume on Microsoft Word. I can email it, save it, re-view it etc. and it looks great/the same. As soon as I upload it to the resume section of an online application, it adds a few words here, and deleats a few paragraphs there. I have tried literally for FOUR HOURS to save in other formats, re-save, re-download, etc. This is SUPER important to me as my latest saved resume online for this company is messed up.

Anyone in orange county that is good with computers? I will literally come with cash and it will likely take you 15 minutes to fix. I am desperate, and need this done tomorrow. I work nights, so ANY TIME before 5pm is perfect. Name your price, you got it.

    HELP!

    Sincerely,
    a desperate man

Have you tried saving it as a .rtf?(rich text format). It's a basic text file format that allows some basic formatting to be included in the document. It almost sounds like you've got all kinds of fonts, text styles, and other things included in your resume(which IMO makes them look like a disaster every time, plain is better).

Open word with a new document, immediately save it as .rtf. Open your resume in a new window, highlight, copy, and paste into the new .rtf document and save it.

Desperate man, don't upload as a word document and have the application parse it out for you. There usually is a section to upload as a word document version (option) but work your resume in notepad. you'll have to manually do it and just cut-n-paste it. i usually keep 2 versions of my resume - word and notepad. the notepad is more simplified and removes all special formatting. that is where the web application you use has problems so use KISS and just use notepad and cut-n-paste it where it prompts you instead of uploading the word and letting it parse it for you.

Convert it to PDF. Open Office will do it. There's also a number of smaller apps
            that'll do it.

This... a pdf won't be able to be changed when uploaded.

A PDF is easily edited unless document security is enabled.

If using M$ Word 2007 or 2010 DO NOT save in native format (.docx) to upload a resume. Most web sites do not know how to handle the extra XML tags used in the .docx (Non ODF compliant M$ B$ ... rant) format.

Save in Word 2003 & all should be good. I can convert for you if needed.

I have ran into the same issue. When you save the document, save as a word (.DOC) first then also save as plain text. That will remove the formatting and replace with spaces, monspaced fonts, etc. The HR group takes the online application and has the file scanned by computer for key word searches. Then someone will actually look.
That's why the also allow you to post an attachment.

This works for LinkedIn as well.

use a free pdf creator and save it as a pdf, much more versatile.
