hey there guys, I have a Verizon Pantech USB modem. Is there anyway I can connect the USB modem directly to my blackberry ? I already have internet on my blackberry but its really slow. I figured if i have the modem always on me then i can get the internet either wireless from the modem or thru a cable. Is this possible ? Thanks.

USB Modem to Blackberry ?

nope. that device would require a software component to drive it, which is not available on a blackberry.
that being said, the network your pantech USB modem connects to is the exact same network your blackberry connects to, unless the pantech is 4g.

I believe it is 4g. in the back it says qualcomm 4g.
We just got this today , another question. With this thing connected to my laptop, can the passenger on my car be using the internet with fast 4g connection with out interruption while im driving the car ? Or does i have to be in one single position ?Comment

be weargy of XG, it could relate to a 3g/4g cell network, or it could just be a internal manufacturer designation for product generation. so, that could be the 4th series of that product they have release. go to the product website to find out for sure.
if you have the card in your laptop, you can use it anywhere, at any car speed with no issue provided there is cell signal. you can use it the exact same way your use your phone to make calls. it works on the exact same principle. just like your phone uses the cell network to download and upload data when it browses websites, the card does the same thing. it connects to the same towers, and makes the same requests, it just gets pushed to your laptop instead of your blackberry handset.

but it will be much faster right ?
It takes a good minute or two to log on to calguns on my blackberry, vs a regular home internet connection. With this thing connected it will as fast as if i am using a desktop or I WILL have internet but it will be blackberry speed ( 1 minute or so per page to load )Comment

there are a few different things at play here.
on your blackberry, you have a 3g connection to the cell network. which is pretty fast, it has a theoretical throughput of 3.1mb/s which is like DSL. in practice, its not usually that fast. there are geographical and enviromental factors that can reduce this, as well as others. finally, your blackberry handset is a much slower 'computer' then your laptop, so you have some reduction in performance from the device itself. it cant perform nearly as many operations per second that your laptop can, so this will translate into a slower experience.
if this card runs on a 4g network, which would not only require the card to be 4g compatible, but that you are in the coverage area of a 4g network, and possible have signed up for a data plan that uses the 4g network if available. you might also have a service contract that restricts you to the 3g network only, so check that as well. if all these 4g requirements are met you could get 4g speeds, which range between 3Mb/s and 5Mb/s, which should be noticeable over your 3g connection. on top of this, you will be browsing on a full fledged laptop computer, not a hand held device. the only other factors would be signal strength. if you only have 2 bars, you wont be getting 4g speeds.
but overall, a laptop on a 4g cell network will be substantially faster then your blackberry on a 3g cell network.
