    Windows isn't recognizing hard drive

So I built my new computer however Windows 7 isn't recognizing the 2nd hard drive. It shows up in the BIOS. Is there something I'm missing? I've ran detech new hardware and it still doesn't show up.

SATA? IDE? What's the setting the BIOS? Size of drive? Motherboard manufacturer?

If you are using a SATA drive, you might need to use IDE emulation for 7 to see it.

You have to format the hard drive before Windows will see it/let you use it.

Found this video guide to walk you through it:

Does the new drive show up in Disk Management? If it does show up there and not My Computer, then the drive most likely just needs to be initialized and formatted.

Here's a walk through for it:
A friend of mine just called me the other day, telling me about a problem that he had with his Windows 7 system. He bought a new hard drive and connected it […]

Its a SATA drive, 1 TB, MSI motherboard. I'll try to format the hard drive, didn't try that yet..

does it see anything in the device manager? (i.e. a second unknown device)
is the drive the exact same model as the first (i.e. same device drivers)

if it shows up in disk management but not in windows it may need to be initialized. Right click on the bottom at your new drive and initialize.

hell yeah it did. so did my second computer, which was 66 mhz.

i actually had to turn the turbo mode off when i played sopwith otherwise it was just too damn fast and you couldn't control it.
