netflix sales tax

i just signed up for netflix, and was alerted by a friend that they charge sales tax on top of the monthly fee. how much is the tax, i live in Alameda county.

looked at a bank statement. I do one dvd/bd rental at a time plus the streaming and the total is: $12.98
(its $9.99 for one dvd rental, but i think its a little extra for BD - not sure if its $1 or $2 or $3)

i dont have the DVD plan, mine is just unlimited streaming, "Watch Instantly Unlimited plan with unlimited time to watch instantly" is there tax added for each rental i make? or is just a flat rate tax added on to the $7.99?

Well, they do have warehouses everywhere (58 in 2009 according to a Chicago Tribune). If you have a location in the same state as the buyer, you need to collect taxes from said buyer. Sucks, eh?

I pay for 1 DVD and unlimited streaming for 9.99. After tax it is 10.86. I think it might depend on yor location.
