Anyone planning to port their cell number to Google Voice?

It's something I'll consider when I get a new phone plan in the near future. I use google voice sometimes, and it's a nice service. My only concerns revolve around entrusting google with my number. For one, they tend to collect user data heavily, and I also worry that one day they'll start doing arbitrary things with my phone number like requiring fees to use it.
