I noticed there is a new shot timer app on the android market and I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet. I might buy it and try it out on my droid 2 tomorrow. I wish it had some kind of trial so you could make sure it picks up the shots though.

I was going to say you could buy it and return it if it didn't work out...BUT I just checked the Market and it looks like they do payments through PayPal, so your purchase of the app wouldn't be open for returns like it would be if you were to buy through the Market. -
I went ahead and bought the app. I haven't been to the range yet but it picks up when I dry fire. I don't have anything to compare it too but it seems to work good. No par time but they say it will be added in the next update. I will probably try to get to the range and test it tomorrow.
I wish there was a way to set it to repeat the beep so I could practice drawing without having to reset the timer each time. I see the iphone version has a slave mode where it will start when it hears a beep, hopefully they will add that to the android version.Comment

Sorry to revise such an old thread, but a Google search brought this up on the first page so I figured I'd comment for others searching.
I also downloaded the app, when it was available... It is no longer available in the android market. Don't know why, but I emailed the developer's to see if they will be supporting it in the future. I hope they do as it appears this app has a lot of potential even if it is very iPhone-ish.
If there are those that have this app and are having problems with calibration (specifically indoors) here is a little trick: When calibrating, do so with only one round in your magazine. With at least one of my handguns (my Kahr CW9) the slide slamming shut was regestering and overriding the shot profile and causing insane split times (at least for me
). By loading a single round, your handgun should go into slide-lock and keep the correct profile of the shot and then ignore the slide when running drills. Once you do this, save the prifile and test it by starting the timer and dropping the slide from slide-lock to ensure the timer app is not registering the slide closure. Probably best not to sling-shot the slide for testing. This alleviated problems for me with my Kahr and doing this to setup my M&P caused no problems at all.
Currently, there are 4 other timers in the market. Just search for IPSC and you should see them. I have not tested any of these at this time.Comment
