    remote hosted PBX(VoIP)

Anybody here have any success with any particular company? Our company uses 8x8 which seems to do the job most of the time, but then there are other times when I just want to have my boss cancel the service and find a new company.

    Issues we've had:

*dropping calls (when transferring, placing on hold, etc)
*voice mails piling up on the remote server and not getting to the employee
*8x8 backend issues that cause the whole system to go down, then their support number gets too many calls and its almost impossible to get through.
*echo and reverb from time to time

Why not just setup an Asterisk server and integrate it with Google Voice? Cheap PBX with free VoIP.

We had a remote hosted voip thru Verizon. I for get what they call it but similar problems. Dropped calls, echos etc.

We got rid of it and put in a Cisco UC520 been super happy with it.

I leaned pretty strong on my boss to just break down and get a PBX server, but he went the cheaper route(remote hosted). Thanks for the link to freePBX, I'll look into what that has to offer as far as features go. From a quick glance it looks like it has most of what we need...

Most of that question is a Ford vs Chevy question. Packet8 used to be a very good company but they've gone down hill. There is another VoIP forum I belong to that has some very sharp people, ask there.

It's called PBXInAFlash (PIAF) and yes it does work. I don't know for how long though as GV doesn't like this done.

We have Vocalocity which is a hosted PBX solution. Can't really give you a full eval, our VoIP is being pushed through a T1 1.5/1.5 line which makes the phones unusable, but we're bringing in a new ISP with more bandwidth....so I'll finally be able to see how good the Vocalocity service is.

I agree with what most of the guys here on this thread is saying. I've run into many problems with hosted VOIP PBX's with all the similar symptoms. It's just best to grow the services in house when you're dealing with voice communications. Just my two cents!
