    Dropped a dish

Got a Roku last week and played with it this weekend - quickly realized that we get most of our TV entertainment from Netfix, so I just canceled our Dish account which was about $110 per month.

I watch no sports, so not missing much there. I do feel the need to see a news show every few weeks, so I may get an off-air antenna and see if we can grab any local stations - we live in a small valley, so not sure that will work.

If no off air works I may get a base DirecTV or cable service - shouldn't be more than $30 or so, still a big savings over Dish.

Netfix looks pretty good - we both like documentaries, and they have a pretty good selection of them.

For over the air (OTA) signals, check out http://antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

You'll enter your address/zip code and it will show you which stations are close enough to you and which direction they're coming from. It will also tell you what type of antenna you should buy. I don't think it actually gives individual antenna recommendations, but at least you'll know what type you need.
