Office Pro 2010

Does anyone have experience using Office Pro 2010 and know if Excel in this version has the bugs fixed from the Office 2007 version? I used to use Office 2007 and would plot large data sets in Excel. There was a bug where Excel would slow to a crawl when working with large datasets or when you try to plot the data. A simple scatter plot of 25K points would take 15 minutes or more. Larger data sets caused the Excel to freeze up completely. Anyone know if this bug had been fixed with Office Pro 2010?

I have an offer at work to buy Office Pro for $10, but don't know if it's worth it if microsoft hasn't fixed the bug in Excel.

I wish I could chime in. I've yet to actually *upgrade* to 10, although I have a copy of it. I'll probably install it on one of my laptops or a test [customer] computer before installing it on my main.

2010 is awesome...If that is a not a legit copy do not buy it. If we have to have BBs you should have legit copies.

So far I have nothing but good to say obout 2010. I am in no way a power user with Excel but have not run into any issues.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll buy it. The software is legit and is downloaded straight from microsoft. My employer has a site wide license and pay big bucks to use their software, so this $10 deal is a sort of thank you gift for spending so much on microsoft.

The $10 is usually through your work or a company that has an Enterprise site license with Microsoft, like we do. So any of our employees can get the latest Office Pro or Windows Enterprise/Premium software for $9.95

We've been using 2010 for a few months now and I've taken some week long trainings for it already in Word, Excel, and Outlook. IMO, the software is much better and more bug-free over Office 2007 Pro. If you have the chance to upgrade, do so as Office 2010 should be around for awhile and become an industry standard (much like Office 2003 was, and will be around longer than Office 2007 was, which was more like stepping stone to a new interface & look, like Windows Vista being so for Windows 7).

We have the MS Home Use Program too, but I've just been using my MSDN versions since release while playing with writing some applications that communicate with office on the side. 2010 is very nice.

I have the same deal at work. The way I look at it, it's only $10 bucks and you get a legit copy so just fork over the 10 bucks.

Excel is "okay" for quick and dirty graphing. Find someone in the office with Origin or Matlab.

I am in my graduate program and got a copy of Office 2010 Pro. Love it and it works great for my application. On another note... Windows 7 is a must have. Prob the best product out of MS in years. Puts XP and Vista to shame. I have 2 copies... I bought one for school and my wife bought me a suprise copy for a gift! Gotta love that. So I have an extra copy of Windows 7 Ultimate... it has the 32-bit and 64-bit copy and unused product key. PM me if interested. If not Ill sell it on Ebay.
