So, im working in hyperterminal quite a bit, and im tired of it not letting me select my emulation when I connect. It always does that autodetect crap, which never works. I have to disconnect, enter the properties window, and select my emulator so I can use vi editor. I always forget, until after I set my permissions and get where I want to be, so I have to do it twice. Anybody got one that I can set up to default to vt100j? Thanks...

Putty will let you do that, if you change the default connections.

Putty is the easiest. If you needed more common linux features for windows, you could also install cygwin. http://www.cygwin.com/Comment

Another alternative - one that I and others in my group use - is TeraTerm.

I use putty, and procomm plus.
Putty is a great free app, but procomm plus does so much more, you can setup your own key mapping, build scripts or record key strokes for repetitive tasks.sigpic
