Check out this thread. Post #7.

      1) find a picture online.

      2) Right-click the picture and go to "Properties"

      3) Look for the "Address (URL)" and highlight the url to the picture (ex: http://website.com/photo.jpg) and copy it by right-click copy or Ctrl+C

      4) go to calguns and make a new post or reply to a post.

      5) click the image icon in the toolbar that looks like this

      6) In the pop up window, right-click and paste or Ctrl+V to paste the URL you copied from step 3 and hit OK. Submit or preview the post to see the picture.

this method is called 'leeching' or 'Inline linking' and is not always the best online etiquette. often people get mad because it costs them bandwidth that they are paying for. just learn how to upload it here and use it that way.

Then just stick it on http://imageshack.us it doesn't cost anything and you don't even need an account. The best thing is that you can have imageshack resize it for message boards.

I use htaccess rules to prevent hotlinking. For a long time, I had it setup so when someone hotlinked one of my images on my domain for a site I didn't add on my allowed list, it displayed the tubgirl image instead of the image they tried to hotlink.
