I may get iPhone....but everyone seems to have it. I've read mostly good reviews for the Samsung Captivate/Android OS phone. Anyone out there with any good insight / real world experience...or picked one up (they went on sale yesterday). I'm planning to head to the local ATT company store later this week/weekend.

    thanks...
Look into a Nexus One for AT&T. The only down side is there is no subsidy, meaning you pay full price.

Which was, iirc, $529 when the nexus was available. Go to www.google.com/phone

They'll be collector's items soon! Google is selling their last shipment of it. Supposedly there will be no Nexus Two.

I have an evaluation Sam Vibrant coming from tmob next week, swmbo will use it, I'll report back after a week or 3 what we think.

You got a link to see them ISO adjusted pics? IMHO there is no work around for a flash that I can use. Grainy low light pics may work for some but I need a lot better pic for my work. Thanks.

Needless to say, in regular incandescent to dim indoor lighting, we found the camera to be practically useless (pictured right). There's a "night mode," sure, but boosting ISO well beyond a sensor's capability is no substitute for actual light.

what features are you looking for, in a phone?
is phone primarily used for simply making calls, checking email, work, surfing the web, playing games, taking pictures, etc? narrow it down
which type of plan do you prefer, offered by the carrier(s)?
check w/friends/colleagues with different carriers, in the areas you frequent, for their thoughts.

many of my friends/colleagues do not like att/tmobile. however, they do offer the better phones over verizon and trends are what they are.

i may be biased, but, i prefer verizon...and many people i know, who are currently on other carriers, are awaiting jan '11 to switch over...(heehee-wink wink)

That's because it was a failure, not many people are willing to spend that kind of money for something they cannot checkout in store first.

OK....took the plunge today..Samsung Vibrant w/T-MO... I'm now in the world of high tech ;-)

Wife was sorta reluctant in leaving ATT because of the rollover minutes that we lost, but we should be saving about $25-30 per month, and that should take care of any occasional over-usage of our minutes per month (we have 1500 minutes shared over 3 phones). No looking back now.

You also won't get overage charges if you exceed att's limited bandwidth...too many brainless i-phone soccer moms, not enough network. And it will get worse.
