    TV- Worth the repair?

I have a Westinghouse ( i know big mistake ). 32" lcd i bought about 3 years ago to put in my room to use for my ps3 when i dont want to be in the living room on my other tv. Well this started to happen about 2 months ago. It seems it fixes itself after a day or two and its good for 2-3 weeks. but now it happens more recent. About 75 percent of the lcd lags real bad, in any video mode ( ie. hdmi, rca or my satellite connection ). So question is anyone have an idea whats going on? and is it worth the repair. Dont really want to buy a new tv nor i have the money for one at the moment.

But seriously... if it's out of warranty and Westinghouse doesn't offer in-home service, it's not worth it.
It's going to cost you $300 to pack and ship it plus the repair and return shipping.

The biggest problem I see is that you're watching "King of the Hill."

I was thinking of a local repair shop, but most want to charge me just to check it out.

I have had issues with two LCD tv's. Actually they were the same exact make/models. One was due to my son through a bowl, the other was a pix failure (this was under warranty). Both times it worked out cheaper to just buy a new TV. I would watch for yard sales. You could pick up a small TV for cheap. I would expect it to be a tube TV, but it will be better than what you have.

If you want to fix it yourself, you'll need to buy the schematic or service manual from the manufacturer. Then you'll be able to trouble shoot it and figure out which component is bad. I did that with our LCD tv and it cost me $100 for a new board with the video processing chip. I was lucky because the offices of Envision is located in Fremont and I was able to ride my bike there to buy the board.

Could be the video card/chip. Some of the TVs have a video and audio card piggy back so you gotta replace them both.
Unless you have the schematics and the manuals it may be cheaper to buy a new tv. You can always donate the one you have now might as well get a tax deduction
You may want to unplug it and see if something worked itself loose on the main board. Look for a obvious physical damage first before you call it quits. if its a video card you may be able to get that prety cheap. There could be a diagnostics mode on the TV
Since it does it no matter what input you are using that leads me to believe it is probably the video card ( it may be called something different now)

Repair a three year old Westinghouse, and not an electronics whiz? I'd pass on that if I were you. Go get yourself a nice, new, NON-Westinghouse HDTV.

I've been repairing TVs for years. Unless you have the time to invest in trouble shooting it, you're probably better off getting a new TV and donating your existing one while it still partly working. Tube TVs are really easy to fix, but LCD and Plasma TVs require different sets of test equipment and knowledge base since they use a lot more data processing. That all comes down to having a high repair cost from a trained service person. Plus, it will probably take 3-4 weeks to get it repaired. I'm figuring 1 week to get around to it, 1 week to trouble shoot it, and then 2 weeks waiting on replacement parts to arrive.

So can it be repair, sure. Would it be pricey if someone else does it, yep. Would a new TV be cheaper in the long run and more instantly available, absolutely.

Try this site before you toss it:

Free Westinghouse Televison and Video help, support & customer service. Ask your Electronics questions. Get solutions from top Westinghouse experts.

Google "westinghouse tv problems". If the above site isn't any help you're probably better off, cheaper, buying a new one on sale, or from the "items other than firearms for sale" room at CalGuns.

                            Good luck
