Comcast E-Mail Password Weirdness

What could cause a password to Comcast e-mail suddenly not work? I got it fixed with a new password, but I absolutely did not touch a thing, and the existing password just became invalid all by itself. ??? I worry about some sort of security breach, or... ??? Internet access was fine, just e-mail password.
