    IE Mem Usage

    For those using Internet Explorer...

Open up your task manager and post what your memory usage is for IE.

Mine is hovering at a quarter gig with CG and Facebook open, and it never used to be that high.

& if you're replying to tell me that IE sucks go pound sand.

                CGN v1.1 or v2.0?

I noticed that 2.0 employed alot more applets. . . and Facebook is just as bad with their use of Flash. . . and both tend to chew up more resources regardless if you're in IE or FF.

Just under 200M with four tabs open and I havent restarted the browser in a couple of days. I have noticed that since CGN 2.0 came out, I have some weird pauses in scrolling from time to time now. This ususally indicates some sort of hung/unresponsive script running or slow loading/rotating graphics. IE 7.0.5730.13. Those of you running IE 6 should really consider upgrading to 7 or 8...

Not to get off topic or anything but, are you concerned by this? 250mb for IE and a few tabs is not something to be concerned with. there might be cached items opened still as well. reboot your computer and open the same 2 tabs and see what your mem usage is.

the point i am making here is that 200 megs is squat today. its not uncommon for me to have 2 gigs in FF with 3 windows and 20 tabs. memory is cheap as dirt these days. go buy 4 gigs and stop worrying about it.

I'm concerned because my usually seamless browsing has become hagny and hiccupy in the last month or so. Sometimes the whole thing is laggy. I mean it's old, but it's not defunct.

                        Thread moved to proper forum.

Also, several off-topic "IE bashing" posts have been removed. There are some very good reasons why some people need to run Internet Explorer, if any of you insist on posting that members should just dump IE in favor of nnnn-brand browser just do so with the knowledge that you may be taking an unexpected vacation shortly. So keep it on topic.

                          Thanks for both.

Didn't even know there was this subforum.
