I'm a computer dude in Rialto. Hmmm even safe mode did not work? Not fun. I take it you pressed F8 and selected Last Known Good?
Easiest way to fix it? Go buy a Windows 7 upgrade disk and boot to that. Seriously. I did that since Windows 95.

Well you can reinstall Vista if you have the original CD/DVD, just do a repair, your data will be there (don't format!) but you wil need to do a windows update for sure.
Nopew, running an update to W7 will not overwrite your personal stuff, though you do want to check your PC maker's website to se if it is capable of supporting W7. You may lose drivers for the network or video that have to be downloaded seperately, or if you do not have enough technical wants then it will not run at all. My guess is if it support Vista it ought to support W7."If Jesus had a gun he would be alive today"-Homer SimpsonComment

Had a similar problem with one of the Toshiba laptops I bought for my classroom. No amount of online and phone tech help would get it up and running. They had to send a box to return ship it to their repair depot in Kentucky. That was an adventure, as they put the wrong sn on the repair order, then waited for me to complain about it before fixing the order or the computer. Still, it is back in the classroom and running fine now. Needed a new hard drive. Under warranty.

Try dual booting with another Microsoft OS and use Chkdsk. Your stuff shouldn't be deleted (while installing another OS) unless you choose to completely reformat the disk.
Having HD issues may mean that some of your stuff can't be recovered, however.

A friend had a bad DVD drive, bad RAM and the hard dribve had issues. I just got a new machine, a Dell refurb, for $339 that has 6GM Ram, 640GB hard drive, Windows 7 premium, no headaches! No it wont, you can do a clean install with the upgrade and it will put all your old stuff in c:\windows.old so that you can move your files to your home directory after install. Or if you do an actual upgrade everything will be pretty much how it was (wont have to reinstall programs).Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison
