Which is just a knockoff of Windows Mobile ballistics calculators that have been around far longer than the iPhone. Many of them are also free.

I just get tired of people thinking the iPhone does what no other device can. All it brought to the table was a shiny interface on a locked down system.

well maybe thats enough for some people, its also convenient, easy to use, it makes things simple, not to mention its an iPod which are pretty popular these days, they also brought the computer internet browsing experience to the mainstream, rather than having stupid mobile web which almost all phones had at the time (including blackberrys and treos), it is also pretty darn fast, not as fast as the Nexus One, but also not as expensive or exclusive, and has high capacity flash memory

Wrong, Opera Mobile has been on those devices for years and gives you the same kind of browsing experience as the iPhone. There's also other mobile browsers such as Firefox mobile. The iPhone was not the first, far from it.

Actually the iPhone is more exclusive:
From Day 1 you can only use iPhone on AT&T (in the US), Nexus One will allow you to purchase an unlocked phone to use on AT&T or T-Mobile, albeit at a high cost. It's at least a "legal" option

Apple controls ALL the applications for the iPhone. There's been some documented incidents where they've removed the Google Voice app from the iTunes store.. sounds like that's pretty exclusive when you can choose to take out competing application from your store. On the flip side, Nexus One is an open platform without Google controlling what they deem is a good application.

I do think Apple marketed their features the best though. Think of cell phone commercials. Apple's was the first that truly featured the phone/features as the primary focus of the ad. Now Palm, T-Moble with Android, and Verizon with Droid have taken notice and are at least showing what the phones can do now.

I think that's how Apple's iPhone got so popular. People saw the ads and were like "cool" I can do that? Whereas up to that point the cell device commercials were like any traditional commercials which many still are today.

read what I said, they brought it to the mainstream!! you dont read what I say, you just perceive it how u want to tailor it to your argument, so instead of twisting what Im saying you should read it for what it actually says, and what it actually says is that they brought it to the masses, advertised it

I meant more exclusive as in its more expensive, harder to find and one of these days iPhone is supposed to end its deal with AT&T

the thing people don't realize is that once the iphone heads over to verizon it won't be able to do all the things it currently does with att. yeah, you'll get good cell service but that is not what i'm talking about.

when you're on a phone call, you won't be able to look stuff up on the web or send a text. there are things that seem so basic on the iphone that you won't be able to once it is on verizon's network and that is the truth.

Well I just know I like my iphone. I held off buying an apple product for over 20 years and now that I have my first apple toy, I want more. Don't know why but it appeals to my "be prepared for everything mentality". Gotta love the apps
