xp and usp terabyte drive problem

My sony (05 vintage) with xp halts at usb initialization during boot up. Unpluging the usb drive and power down, then power up is ok. Plugging in usb tb drive after bootup works fine. Smaller GB drives boot fine.

Any clues on what to do to allow booting with usb TB drive connected?

Is the TB drive just too big for usb boot?

Verify installation of SP3, update your BIOS to the latest version.

If that doesn't do it, do you get a specific error when it halts? What is the sony model?

I will check for an updated bios. SP3 was installed, I use the auto update for windows. Sony desktop pcv2223 is what the lable reads iirc.

Is the USB TB a Sara drive. Mine was a Sara plugged into an IDE/USB adapter. You may have to change bios settings for it to boot.

SATA. Not Sara. Sorry. Auto spell correct!

Go into Bios and disable boot from USB.
