Yeah dude. The Droid rocks. You'll need to download a bunch of apps in order to be able to do all things you want, but its pretty fast. Here's a list of the must-have apps I've come across during many web-searches...

Astro - file manager, so you can actually view, move and delete stuff you save to your SD card

Advanced Task Killer - manage your apps so your battery life doesn't suck

    Wapedia - Wikipedia app

Mablio ringtones - free ringtones of new songs

    Pandora - Internet radio

Locale - just check it out, very cool app

Remote Droid - turns your Droid into a remote for your desktop pc

AND MOST IMPORTANT - "SchottGunn" - Shotgun for your Droid.

I talked to my local VzW rep. He said having to manually input the contacts is the biggest complaint so far.

I'm getting a new phone for work and I get to choose between two Droids (one made by Motorola but I don't know who makes the other one) or a Blackberry Storm.

I take it that you guys would recommend a Droid?

I just need it to be compatible to Outlook email and for browsing Calguns and porn.

Get the Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid sucks, and the Blackberry Storm screen clicking is annoying as ****

Who told you that you had to manually input the contacts? Did you switch carriers? I can see that being annoying if you switched from a carrier with a sim card, but you'd have that inconvenience with any Verizon or Sprint phone.

It took them 5 minutes to transfer all of my contacts from my old Verizon phone to my Droid, and now its automatically synced to my Gmail contacts, so if I ever lose my phone I will automatically get them back on my new one.

                    Get the Droid.

The other Android phone they have right now is the Droid Eris, which is made by HTC. It is a good phone, but it has a much smaller screen, lower resolution, no physical keyboard, and it runs an older, slower, less awesome version of Android OS. Also the Droid has features like GoogleNavigation, which is SICK.

The Blackberry Storm2 is a touchscreen blackberry with a really crappy "Screen-click" system that most people hate. Also it doesn't run Android, so you won't be able to get cool applications and whatnot.

Like I said, get the Droid. It can do everything you want it to do, and more.

If you work through a corporate owned store they have a device that will transfer your phone book from just about any phone to just about any phone.

You don't need to manually input the contacts to get them to the droid. Here's how I did it:

                              1. Use the "Get It Now" app "Backup Assistant" on your non-smart phone. It will back up your contacts to a server.

                              2. Go to https://backupassistant.vzw.com. Login with your VZW phone number and password. Here you can view the contacts that are remotely stored. In the top right of the screen, just under the search contacts bar there is a link to saving the contacts as a .csv file. Clicking the link will start a download. Save this file somewhere easy to find.

                              3. Open your gmail account. If you don't have one, you should. There is awesome connectivity between gmail and the Droid. Once logged in to gmail, open the contacts. In the top right corner of the screen is a "Import" link. Click the link, and in the following screen click "Browse" and find the save .csv file. Click "Import".

                              4. On the phone, press menu, then settings. Then press accounts & sync. Make sure your gmail account is listed here, if not press add account to add it. Make sure the auto sync box is checked. The contacts from gmail will filter into the phone. It might take an hour or so before they are all downloaded, but it sure beats manual entry.

                              P.S.:

If you add your facebook account to the accounts list on the Droid, it will match names and display people's facebook profile photo in your contacts list.
