    Online MD5 Hash Checker?

    Anyone know of a fully online hash checker?

    There's also a lot of free software for that. If you're running Linux, most distros come with it.

        To do that you generate a new hash and compare it to the one you were given with the file. Or am I missing your objective here?

          The purpose of a file hash is to see if what you received is exactly equal to the source's copy. Since calculating the hash requires every bit of the file, you'd have to upload the entire file to an "online hash checker", and if there were a difference, you couldn't tell whether it happened during downloading or uploading. That's why there is no such thing and you should get a utility to do it on your machine.

            If you're on windows, go download md5sum.exe. If you're on linux, you should already have it and it's called 'md5sum'. Just run that and the name of the file in question. That's it.

              Why online, specifically? Are you trying to script/automate the process of checking hashes so you can hash in batches using someone else's harware? Sounds very legitimate
