    Bloatware

I fargin hate Windows 10. It does upgrades whenever it wants, especially when I'm in the middle of something. And why do I have 2 instances of Edge running when I haven't opened any windows for it?

Any hints on how to get rid of "system" garbage? It's always sucking most of the resources out of the system. When I haven't used it for awhile, but still running, it puts everything to sleep. It took over 15 minutes this morning to get most things running. It would've been faster to disable power and reboot.

I'm guessing there's a crapload of bloatware on it. Much of it from microshaft.

Can I flat out delete Edge? I'm not using it for anything.

Windows is spyware. Delete with extreme prejudice.

There are other operating systems and browsers out there.

PC Decrapifier helps but make sure to read everything it does so it doesn’t remove things you need.

I have been using Windows 10 for a long time and only had one issue that required a substantial fix using Power Shell. It worked nicely.

If a Windows image becomes unserviceable, you can use the Deployment Imaging and Servicing Management (DISM) tool to update the files and correct the problem.

First, read the entire tutorial to see what's it's all about.

Use Option 2. Follow the directions to the letter.

Ten Forums has lots of great info on Win 10. It's worth checking out for all Win 10 users.

You can also turn off a lot of the Windows "phone home" stuff using the 'Privacy' settings.

Be sure to make a backup of your personal files before doing anything drastic such as DISM.

If your Win install is corrupted beyond fixing, you may have to use the Media Creation Tool to install a fresh copy of Windows.

I hope you can get this resolved, Sig.

If you really need Windows, install it in a virtual machine on Linux. Even then, cut off internet access to the VM.

Back in the WinXP/Win7 days, I used to use Revo Uninstaller (there's a free version that is decent) and CCleaner to clean up a lot of bloatware on family PCs. Nowadays, there seems to be a ton of freeware alternatives on the market.

I'm trying to speed up my machine as well as get rid of microshaft spyware. All that would just slow it down.

My software still needs to get to teh intarwebs.

Admirable goal except Windows itself is the spyware.

Why, oh why can't they just build a good operating system that runs quietly in the background and just does it's job? I didn't ask for all that bloatware. It's not much different from Android that way. Equally obnoxious is the required reboot after update and then attempting to get me to sign-in to the mothership to complete the setup.
