HELP! Plesk hosted Windows site Default page

    On GoDaddy

In Plesk under Websites & Domains/IIS entry under Default documents/custom value I have 1 value: default.html

When I go to my website with no page specified the default.html is not used. If I fully qualify the URL it works fine.

Bigger problem. A GoDaddy support person escalated my problem to the next level. They seemed to think it is a problem. An official ticket has been opened.

Well, problem fixed. They removed the web.config I had in the root directory. Not sure what was in it that was causing the problem. Added an SSL cert. That was fun.

The default document was probably not set with default.html in the deleted web.config. The default default document has default.htm but not default.html.

The Plesk IIS defaults were set to default.html. That file was in the root. The web.config had nothing about <defaultDocument>

Read your link. It did not answer a question I have. If I use <defaultDocument> does the file have to be in the root or can I specify a default.aspx in a folder?

Made a simple web.config and put in just the stuff needed for the defaultDocument pointing to a sub-site default.aspx. Work like a charm.
