Old Cell Phone Video - AVI - converting to MP4

My Hard Drive is full so I was moving thigs to an old backup drive...

I came across some old flip phone days Video.... maybe 2004-2006 in an AVI format.

I downloaded a Codek and was able to watch the old videos...

Is there a preferred way to convert these from the old format to a modern format?

Any program you suggest or can I do it within windows?

VLC Media Player has a conversion option.....

Vlc is good for watching, but virtualdub is used for editing and converting.
