Win7 PC has after market Bluetooth dongle but wont work with....

any Bluetooth earbuds like Mpow Jaws 5 or Tozo T10, etc. Says "no driver" but those don't have driver downloads on websites and "troubleshoot" can find any.

Green audio jack seems dead, too.

Would an upgrade to Win 10 fix this? But wont that also wipe out all my saved passwords on this old desktop, that I keep all that on because its at my home and not at risk of being stolen from car?

I guess I really don't NEED to listen to old desktop that bad. I guess I could maybe get some "audio card" with a green jack that works. Prob with that is I'm hearing a lot of such add on SAY they work with Win 7 but really or mostly don't.

Any slick way to "upgrade" to Win 10 or 11 and not lose all my passwords etc?

Dear all, I am facing some troubles while connecting my Airpods via Bluetooth on a WIN7 machine. The BT antenna recognize the device properly but it cannot install the drivers. On the net there is anything to find. And Apple's saying it is a third party…

I am more concerned about your password storage than the audio jack. If you lose all your passwords with your computer then you need a better way to store them. A simple way is to them them in an encrypted docx or odt file.

I would not assume that upgrading to Win10 or Win11 will fix your issues. You might end up going through all that trouble just to have the same problems. It could be a sign that your motherboard is on its last legs. I would back up your data externally if I were you.

There are USB sound adapters that you can buy. Don't buy the cheapest ones. Get one with a decent digital to analog converter (DAC) like this one below.

There are also USB bluetooth adapters too if you want to try that route.

That's the price one pays when using an older OS. What passwords are you worried about losing? Make a hard copy list just in case. If you go the upgrade route, you shouldn't have any passwords changes needed. If you do a clean install of a new OS than obviously everything gets wiped.

Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 or 11 can be a good idea for security reasons, as Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft. However, the upgrade process may require a fresh installation, and it's important to back up your data, including passwords, before proceeding.
